What is a word unscrambler?

A word unscrambler takes a set of mixed-up letters and finds the valid words hiding inside them. Instead of rearranging tiles in your head, you hand the letters to the tool and it checks them against a dictionary, returning every word you can actually spell.

It is the fastest way to break a tough rack in Scrabble, find a play in Words With Friends, test guesses in Wordle, or crack the daily Jumble. Because everything runs in your browser, results appear instantly and keep working even if your connection drops.

Tips for finding better words

Start with your longest options

Results are sorted longest-first for a reason: longer words usually score more and clear more tiles. Scan the top groups before settling for a short play.

Watch your high-value letters

Letters like Q, Z, J, and X are worth the most in Scrabble. The score badge next to each word helps you cash them in instead of dumping them.

Use the “must include” filter

In Wordle, lock a confirmed letter into the required field and set the length to 5 to narrow the field to realistic guesses.

Word unscrambler for Scrabble and Words With Friends

Enter the seven tiles on your rack to see every legal word, ranked from longest to shortest with each word’s point value. Pair the length filter with the board: searching for shorter words helps you slot a play into a tight space, while the longest results help you reach a bonus square.

Scoring shown here uses standard Scrabble letter values. Words With Friends uses a slightly different point system, so treat the badge as a strong guide rather than an exact Words With Friends total.

Frequently asked questions

What is a word unscrambler?

It is a tool that turns jumbled letters into valid words. You give it your letters, and it returns every word in its dictionary that you can build from them.

How does this word unscrambler work?

The tool counts the letters you enter, then checks each dictionary word to confirm you have enough of every letter to spell it. Matches are grouped by length and sorted longest-first. It all happens in your browser.

Can I use this for Scrabble?

Yes. Enter your rack to see playable words with their Scrabble scores, so you can choose the highest-value move.

Can I find 5-letter words for Wordle?

Yes. Set the length filter to 5 letters, and use the “must include” field to keep only words that contain a letter you have already confirmed.

Does the tool support blank tiles or wildcards?

Not yet — wildcard and blank-tile support is planned for a future update. For now, enter the exact letters you have.

Are all results valid in every word game?

Not necessarily. Results come from a broad English word list and may include obscure words, and they may not match every official game dictionary. Word Puzzle Solver is not affiliated with any game publisher — confirm a word with your game’s official dictionary if it matters. See the dictionary and word list page for details.
